The Tired & Black Curtain Blowing

The investigator woke up heavy blanket sweats and felt wind through the black curtain as if a death rattle. He saw chess figures on tables of antiquity and they fell hard from short distances. He saw a cockroach run sideways beside him and saw the fear that made him lie silent. The lights from the helicopters made shadows from 4AM spying while taking victims to roof tops. He heard fists hitting brick and rust of collapsing fire-escapes. He listened to the insect legs scratch the climbing wall above his head. He shivered from sweat and the blades of the helicopter.
